Waupaca captures B.A.B.A. title Waupaca
captured the 66th Annual B.A.B.A. Grand Championship
Sunday with a 10-0 victory over Tigerton. It was the second straight title
for the Lakeman as they defeated the Tigers a year ago at Tigerton. The
winners grabbed a 3-0 first inning lead thanks in part to some shaky defense
by the
Tigers. After leadoff man Jeff Riddle was hit by a pitch, Jason Wanty reached
on an error. Luke Behn then singled to load the bases. A walk to Braden
Kaminske plated the first run. Then with two outs, Andy Wanty singled home a
pair of runs to make it 3-0 Waupaca. The
winners added three more in the fourth when catcher Casey McDaniel blasted a solo
homer to left and later in the frame two runs scored on a throwing error by Tigerton
shortstop Dylan Berg. A
pair of singles and a hit batsman loaded the bases in the fifth for the
Lakemen and Jeff
Riddle followed with an RBI single as the winners increased their margin to
7-0. Waupaca
added two more runs in the sixth when Luke Behm and Rocky Mondello singled
and later scored on Wanty’s two out base hit. The
